Turkish invasion of Seunadesha was a chapter in Maratha history where the Seuna Yadavas defeated the Turkish Muslim forces.

Battle[edit | edit source]

The Sankh inscription credits both Jaitugi and his father Bhillama V with a victory over the Turushkas (Muslim forces).[1] However, modern historians consider it doubtful that contemporary Muslim incursions reached the borders of Seunadesha.[2]

During this era, Ghurid campaigns in northern India reached as far south as Gujarat and Malwa, neighbouring the Seuna realm. Although the contemporary Chaulukya ruler Bhima II faced an invasion led by Qutb al-Din Aibak, the Chaulukya army successfully expelled the forces from Gujarat.[3][4]

Historiography[edit | edit source]

There is no contemporary evidence indicating that either Bhillama or Jaitugi participated in this conflict or engaged in any other confrontation with Muslim armies.[5]
