The company was founded in 2017[3] by Boris Pilichowski and Nicolas Andine in partnership with the Renault Group,[4] which is investing $15 million through its subsidiary RCI Bank and Services in a model favouring new shared mobility.[5]
In 2017, Karhoo started the development of its global mobility exchange platform, connecting demand partners to supply partners such as taxi and private hire vehicles providers.[6][7][8]
The company won the European Startup Gold Prize in 2019[9] and signed commercial partnerships with several European rail operators: Mon Chauffeur TGV Inoui, Thalys MyDriver,[10] L'Assistant SNCF[7] L'Assistant SNCF[7] and Renfe-as-a-Service.[11] At the start of 2020, Karhoo and its sister company Yuso merged and Yuso’s demand-responsive transport product was renamed Karhoo Pool.
