Puran Dawar is an Indian entrepreneur and social worker.[1] He is also the Chairman of the Dawar Group[2] and a member of the National Board Committee on Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (MSME).[3][4] Dawar has been socially active in the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) since 1965,[5] has held various positions in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) besides actively participating in various activities, state and national conferences.[6] As a social worker, he formed the Saksham Memorial Foundation in the memory of his late son.[7] This organisation works to provide employment to children and unemployed.[8]

Puran Dawar was born on 26 September 1953 in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh.[9][10] Dawar's family moved from Pakistan to India in 1947 and lived as refugees in the Malpura refugee camp in Agra.[11] Puran Dawar completed his graduation in science from Agra College in 1971, post graduation in economics in 1973 and law in 1976.[12] He was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from the beginning and held various positions in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad many times during his college days.[13] He came forward openly during the Corona period and provided food to the needy people through his organisation for just Rs.10.[14]
