Later in 1935 there is convention in punjab british government announced their mistake of census and officially annouced that mehta is a title and it was removed on the register of tehsil of doaba region and in later census all of them were enlisted as Rajput and the title mehta or mahton was removed .

Mahton is a caste in India. According to W. H. McLeod, they are small in number and found mostly in the Doaba region, where some have converted to Sikhism. Although they claim to have descended from Rajputs, this belief is disputed by other communities.[1]
