He was selected as a scientist at Central Water and Power Research Station Poona. He instead volunteered to teach at a blind school in Ramanagara district. In 1998 he renounced worldly life and became a Swamiji. Balagangadharanatha Swamiji appointed him as the head of the Adichunchanagiri Shakhe (branch) Matha at Chikkaballapura.


When Balagangadharanatha Swamigalu died on 13 January 2013, Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji succeeded him as head of Adichunchanagiri Matha.[3]
