Vaze joined the State Police Service in 1990 as a [[sub inspector]]. He was first posted to the terror affected area of Gadchiroli, a Naxal-affected area. In 1992 he was moved to Thane City Police. Vaze applied for interim relief, which was rejected by the Sessions court in Thane.
