The Salem Metropolitan Area is the fifty-ninth most populous metropolitan area in India. It is the fourth most populous metropolitan area[1] in Tamil Nadu, after Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai. The Salem Metropolitan Area consist of the city of Salem and its suburbs in Salem district.[2][3]
