Mir was born at Kashmir in 1992.

== Coaching career ==
Mir is a former professional footballer who was responsible for leading a 5-player Indian team to Norway for SSG (Small Sided Games) in 2016.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Desk |first=N. His extraordinary performance with professional teams caught the eyes of some of the top rated clubs of the country like [[Sudeva Delhi FC]] who hired Zahid to coach their U18 team.
