She hails from [[Yairipok]] Top Chingtha village in [[Thoubal district]] of [[Manipur]], India. She took up traditional Chinese martial arts [[Wushu (sport)|Wushu]] in 2003 under the guidance of Maibam Surbala Devi and later under Moirangthem Ibomcha Meitei.
