Crichton was educated at [[Trinity College, Dublin]] and [[ordained]] in 1908. After [[Curate|curacies]] in [[Seagoe]] and [[Hillsborough, County Down|Hillsborough]] he went with the [[Eccles Establishment]] to [[India]]. He served at [[Cannanore]], [[Ootacamund (State Assembly Constituency)|Ootacamund]], [[Secunderabad]], [[Trichinopoly District|Trichinopoly]], [[Bellary]], [[George Town, Chennai]], [[Wellington, Tamil Nadu|Wellington]] and [[Fort St. George, India|Fort St. George]]. Returning from India in 1931 he held [[Incumbent (ecclesiastical)|incumbencies]] at [[Ranmore]] and [[Plaistow, Bromley|Plaistow]].<br />
