The slogan was directed at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government and called for political accountability over allegations of vote theft raised by opposition leaders.

Origin and use
The slogan gained prominence in 2025 when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi used it during public addresses and political campaigns. Gandhi and other opposition leaders alleged irregularities in the electoral process and questioned the role of the Election Commission of India. These allegations were disputed by the BJP and the Election Commission.

The slogan was subsequently used by Congress workers and supporters at demonstrations in different parts of the country. In Tripura, for example, the state Congress organised an agitation under the slogan, criticising the BJP and the Election Commission over the allegations.

The phrase also appeared on protest banners, placards and campaign material and was reported in national media coverage of opposition demonstrations and parliamentary proceedings.
