&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Vijay Kumar Mishra&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (born 7 September 1957) is an Indian politician who, {{as of|2017|lc=on}}, represents the [[Gyanpur (Assembly constituency)|Gyanpur constituency]] in the [[Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh]]. Mishra is being detained by UP Police under charges of extortion and land-grabbing and trespassing.&lt;br /&gt;

The SP said it expelled Mishra in 2017 for &amp;quot;anti-party activities&amp;quot; when he had decided to contest the 2017 elections as an independent candidate due to the SP not adopting him. Mishra and his daughter, Seema, who was then contesting a [[Lok Sabha]] seat in the [[2014 Indian general election]], were both provided with armed protection officers for a period up to April 2014, when the courts ordered that this measure, financed by the Uttar Pradesh government, was illegal.
