He was the author of a number of poetry anthologies, besides other works, and he translated &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Shakuntala (play)|Abhijnana Shakuntalam]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Ramcharitmanas|Tulsi Ramayana]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Tirukkuṛaḷ]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, the poems of [[Subramania Bharati]] and two cantos of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Light of Asia]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; of [[Edwin Arnold]] into Malayalam. He also contributed in the preparation of a dictionary, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Kairali Kosham&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. A recipient of the [[Odakkuzhal Award]] and Thirukural Award, Kurup received the [[Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry]] in 1966.
