Khalid studied at Municipal High School of [[Kannur]], [[Government Brennen College, Thalassery]] and [[Presidency College, Madras]].{{citation needed|date= September 2022}} He passed Law from the Law College, [[Chennai|Madras]]. After the enrollment he started his lawyer career at Kannur Munsiff court initially then moved to the [[Madras High Court]] and [[Kerala High Court]] in 1948.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.dailyexcelsior.com/former-jk-guv-and-sc-judge-v-khalid-dies-at-95/|title=Former J&K Guv and SC Judge V Khalid dies at 95|date=15 November 2017 |access-date=13 November 2018}}</ref> He worked on Criminal, Civil and constitutional matters.
