On 10 May 1986 he became a member of the [[Congregation of the Mission]]. He was Ordained a Priest in the [[Congregation of the Mission]] by [[Antony Padiyara]] on 6 January 1987. He served as Parish Priest for [[Muniguda]] and [[Allada]] in [[Roman Catholic Diocese of Berhampur]], [[Odisha|Orissa]], India from 1988 to 1990. From year 1990 to 1993 he served minor seminary of [[Ambo, Ethiopia]] as a vice rector.
