According to [[R. C. Majumdar]], Vakpati might have supported the southern expansion of [[Devapala (Pala dynasty)|Devapala]], the [[Pala Empire|Pala]] king of eastern India.{{sfn|Mitra|1977|pp=31}}

Vakpati had two sons: [[Jayashakti]] (Jeja) and [[Vijayashakti]] (Vija). He was succeeded by his elder son Jayashakti, who was succeeded by Vijayashakti.{{sfn|Dikshit|1976|p=28}}
