&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Vishwambhar Sharan Pathak&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1926&amp;amp;ndash;2003) was a historian, [[Sanskrit]] scholar and an [[Indologist]] who authored several books.&lt;br /&gt;

Pathak was born at [[Hoshangabad]] in 1926.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Purattava_34&amp;quot;&amp;gt;{{cite journal |journal=Purattava |issue=34 |year=2004 |editor=K. N. Dikshit and K. S. Tripathi |page=vii }}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He completed his first PhD from [[Banaras Hindu University]] (BHU) in the mid fifties. In 1957-58 he served as co-editor (with Prof [[Rajbali Pandey|RB Pandey]]) of the bulletin &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Bharati&amp;#039;&amp;#039; of the Department of Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology of BHU.&lt;br /&gt;

In the late fifties he moved to [[Sagar University]] in [[Madhya Pradesh]] as a member of faculty at the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology.  Pathak completed his second PhD in the early sixties under the Indologist [[A. L. Basham]] at [[SOAS]] at [[London University]].{{Citation needed|date=May 2019}}&lt;br /&gt;

V.S. Pathak served as Head of the Department of History, Archaeology and Culture and also as Vice Chancellor of [[Gorakhpur University]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite web |url=http://www.ddugu.edu.in/theuniversity/about-university1.html |title=About D.D.U. Pathak died on 19 December 2003. During his last days, he was annotating [[Bhoja]]&amp;#039;s &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Tattva-Prakasha&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and two commentaries on it.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Purattava_34&amp;quot;/&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
