" Sohr " Tribe is an ancient Baloch Tribe. Currently, Sohr Baloch people are residing in Basima, Kharan, Panjgur, Mashkal, Chaghi, Quetta, Sibi, and in Iranian Balochistan and in some parts of Afghanistan. In Ancient Times It used to be a very powerful and a huge Tribe.

Chieftain of Sohr ( Baloch ) Tribe:

Sardar Haji Mutee Ullah Jaan Sohr is known as the Chieftain (Sardar) of Sohr Tribe. Sardar Haji Mutee Ullah Jan Sohr is one of the most prominent personalities of Sohr Tribe. Sardar Haji Mutee Ullah Sohr took Oath of Chieftain in years 2018 and since then performing his duties as Sardar Sohr. Sardar Haji Mutee Ullah Sohr belongs to Basima ( District Washuk, Balochistan ).

According To Gazetar Kharan ( a book about Tribes of Kharan ), Sohr Baloch are those of Rinds of Kolwah Makuran region. Thier ancestors resided near "Bado" River. Sohr Tribe is also one of the most ancient Tribe of Kharan, Balochistan. The regions near "Bado" River were Called as " Sohr e Watan " ( State of Sohr ), Which indicates that Sohr Tribe is one of the major tribes of Kharan.

The Word "Sohr" Meaning:

The word Sohr is a Balochi Word which means "سٌرخ" in Urdu or "Red" in English.

There are many regions or areas which are named on sohr. These are areas where Sohr Baloch may have lived or may be there is some sort of link of these areas to Sohr Tribe. Some areas are given as below.

1. Sorkh Aab سٌرخ اب

This area is situated in District Pishin, Balochistan. And Ancestors believe that it is the region where once Sohr Tribe had resided.

2. Sohr Damb سٌہر دمب

It is Situated in Nall an area of district Khuzdar. From it's name it is believed that in past the Sohr Tribe had resided here and it is named after Sohr.

3. Sohr سٌہر

It is Situated near Mangochar Kalat Region. By the name it indicates that it has been the region of Sohr Tribe.
