Upasana was born and brought up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India where she completed her early education. She completed graduation in B.Com. <br />

She started her modelling career after completing her graduation in 2018. Upasana participated in the Miss mermaid International and won Miss Mermaid Asia 2018. In 2019 she participated in Lady Universe held in Sofia, Bulgaria, and became the 1<sup>st</sup> runner-up.<ref>[https://ladyuniverse.net/2019/contestants/profiles/india/ India – Upasana Sankhwar], Ladyuniverse.</ref> She was also the fourth runner-up at Miss Asia world<ref>[http://wntm.org/ Miss Asia 2019 Upasana Sankhwar India], Wntm.</ref> and the second runner-up of Miss Top International held in Pescara, Italy the same year.
