The film was the second of two "significant historical silent films" made by Shantaram, the first being ''[[Netaji Palkar (film)|Netaji Palkar]]'' (1927). ==Production==
Shantaram stated that this was the first film which "politicised" the Maratha Emperor [[Shivaji]].
