He remained until 1981 when ideological differences with Vasantrao Dempo made him resign and join Deccan Herald in Bangalore. Known for his military demeanor and unbending respect for the truth, he had a plaque on his desk that said &amp;#039;News not Views&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

In May 1993 Arun Sinha took over as editor. Arun Sinha was one of India&amp;#039;s most distinguished journalists. He had done path-breaking works in investigative journalism as a reporter for the Indian Express and spent a year at Oxford University as a recipient of the Reuter Foundation Fellowship. He remoulded the whole newspaper with lively and independent reporting, objective commentaries and evocative art and culture features. During his close to three decades of leadership, the newspaper evolved as the strongest and most popular and influential newspaper of Goa.    &lt;br /&gt;
