Sait is from the [[Indian National Congress]] and represents the [[Narasimharaja (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Narasimharaja]] constituency of [[Mysore]], Karnataka. While he was holding the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry portfolio, Tanveer Sait was also the chairman of the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited<ref>{{cite web | url=http://kmdc.karnataka.gov.in/ | title=Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited | work=karnataka.gov.in | accessdate=6 November 2016}}</ref> and in-charge of the Minority Welfare and [[Central Wakf Council|Wakf]] department of Karnataka.
