It is located {{convert|2.2|km}} away from postal head office [[Behram, Punjab|Behram]], {{convert|11.9|km}} from [[Banga, India|Banga]], {{convert|23.5|km}} from district headquarter Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and {{convert|115|km}} from state capital [[Chandigarh]]. == Demography ==
As of 2011, Talwandi Jattan has a total number of 188 houses and population of 818 of which 418 include are males while 400 are females according to the report published by [[2011 Census of India|Census India in 2011]]. The [[Literacy|literacy rate]] of Talwandi Jattan is 87.43%, higher than the state average of 75.84%. The population of children under the age of 6 years is 78 which is 9.54% of total population of Talwandi Jattan, and [[child sex ratio]] is approximately 814 as compared to Punjab state average of 846.<ref name=census /><ref>{{cite web|url=http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=103437|title=Child Sex Ratio in India (2001-2011)|work=pib.nic.in}}</ref>

== Landmarks and history ==
In 1767 a battle was fought by Lodria Singh, Godria Singh and Roop Kaur against Shamas Khan who abducted a girl from Behram. The Sikh soldiers who got martyrdom in the battle were cremated here. A shrine [[List of gurdwaras#India|Gurudwara Shahidganj]] was built at the same place where the soldiers who died in the battle, were cremated<ref name="NSG">{{cite web | url=http://nawanshahr.gov.in/html/places_to_visit.htm | title=Religious places of Nawanshahr | work=nawanshahr.gov.in}}</ref> (not to be confused with [[Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib#Gurudwara Shahid Ganj|Gurudwara Shahid Ganj]] in Fatehgarh Sahib). A religious fair held at the Gurdwara on birthdays of Sikh gurus and other occasions, which attended by people of all religions.
