He ran for the seat of the [[Provincial Assembly of the Punjab]] as a candidate of [[Pakistan Democratic Alliance]] (PDA) from Constituency PP-231 (Bahawalnagar-VII) in [[1990 Pakistani general election]] but was unsuccessful.
