He was elected to the [[Travancore-Cochin]] assembly from [[Thovalai]] [[Agastheeswaram]] constituency in 1952 election as an [[Indian National Congress]] candidate. Thovalai Agastheeswaram was a two-member constituency and the other winner was [[A. Samraj]] from the same party.<br />
