==Road widening==
Linking the very busy Old Madras Road and Old Airport Road, Suranjan Das Road was planned to be widened in 2006, earlier than most other roads in Bengaluru then. The actual widening work began only in 2012.<ref>{{Cite news|author=Staff Reporter|date=2011-07-21|title=Civic body begins work on widening Suranjan Das Road|language=en-IN|work=The Hindu|url=https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/bangalore/civic-body-begins-work-on-widening-suranjan-das-road/article2279200.ece|access-date=2020-12-13|issn=0971-751X}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news|date=2012-03-17|title=Widening of Suranjan Das Road yet to commence|language=en-IN|work=The Hindu|url=https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/bangalore/widening-of-suranjan-das-road-yet-to-commence/article3005707.ece|access-date=2020-12-13|issn=0971-751X}}</ref> That said, the road remained unfinished till 2014, causing inconvenience to many commuters on the route. {{Citation needed|date=April 2023}}

In the course of this widening initiative,183 trees were uprooted to make room for additional lanes. This caused local residents to be unhappy, since they claimed that the green canopy provided by the side of the road was lost forever.<ref>{{Cite web|last=CB|first=Shilpa|date=2011-01-05|title=How green was my Suranjan Das Road|url=https://www.dnaindia.com/bangalore/special-how-green-was-my-suranjan-das-road-1490487|access-date=2020-12-13|website=DNA India|language=en}}</ref>
