The Carlills had two sons; one, [[Admiral]] [[James Michael Rahlenbeck Carlill]] (1934–2010), also served in the [[Royal Navy]].<ref name="officers"/> Carlill died at [[Colwall, Malvern]], [[Worcestershire]] in 1996.
