St. George Forane Church Edathua was constructed by a group of believers who severed ties with [[Champakulam]] diocese in 1810.<ref>{{Cite web|title=edathua|url=http://www.smcim.org/church/edathua/article/208|access-date=2020-09-28|website=www.smcim.org}}</ref> It is located on the bank of river Pumba, about 15 km south east of [[Alappuzha]].
