Plot
The film begins with the advent of Kali Yuga, evil forces dominate the world. Goddess Bhudevi (Sangeetha) sends a request to Lord Vishnu (N. T. Rama Rao) through Narada Maharashi (Nandamuri Balakrishna) to keep his foot on her, but Goddess Lakshmi (Jayasudha) obstructs his way then Narada promises Bhudevi that he will definitely make it possible. At the same time, Saptharishis helmed by Kasyapa Muni perform a Yagna, Sage Narada arrives there and ask who is the patron deity of the sacrifice. Unable to answer, the sages send Bhrigu Maharshi (Dhulipala) to test Trimurthis. After testing Lord Siva and Brahma Bhrigu reaches Vaikuntha, when the Lord and his consort Lakshmi are in a playful mood and ignore Bhrigu. Angered by this, Bhrigu kicks Vishnu in his chest. To pacify the sage, Vishnu held his legs and pressed the extra eye in his foot the symbol of his egotism where sage realized his folly and apologized to Vishnu. But Lakshmi gets upset. In anger, she leaves to earth, Vishnu also follows her and keeps his feet on the earth, then she trembles. Vishnu reaches to his ardent devotee Vakulamatha's (Anjali Devi) ashram, calls her as mother, she names him Srinivasa and he starts staying with her.

Once Srinivasa on a hunt, chases a wild elephant. In its pursuit, he was led into a garden, where he meets Padmavati (Jayaprada), daughter of Aakasa Raju (Mikkilineni) and both of them fall in love. After initial hesitation, Aakasa Raju agrees to their marriage. For the marriage expenses, Srinivasa takes debt from Kubera and promises to repay the loan with interest till the end of Kali Yuga. After the marriage, Sage Narada informed Lakshmi about the wedding, then, fuming Lakshmi confronts Vishnu and Padmavathi. The clash between his two consorts leads Vishnu, Srinivasa, to turn himself into a stone statue. Depressed, Padmavathi also becomes stone and Vakula Devi a garland. Now Lakshmi realizes her mistake and she decides to take a new life to reach the deity with a pure heart. So, she takes incarnation in a lotus flower, brought up by a Muslim King and named as Bibi Nanchari. Bibi Nanchari is a great devotee of Lord Venkateswara and starts loving the idol from childhood. Muslim Priests and Chief Commander Uggla Khan (Satyanarayana) obstruct her and lock her in a room. She dies at the feet of the idol, the Lord appears and keeps her back in his heart.

Generations pass, Once a devotee called Bhavaji (Gummadi), arrives from North India and starts calling the Lord as Balaji. But he is not allowed to see the god and is thrown out of the temple. From that time the god visits every day to spend some time with him by playing dice. One day, in the game Balaji Lord loses his ornament in the bet. Next day, when the temple doors are opened, the ornament is missing. The King arrives to conduct interrogation and Bhavaji says the truth that God himself has given to him. Everybody says that it's a cock and bull story, so the King makes a test to him to prove his innocence keeping him in a prison with full of sugar cane inside, and asks him to eat every bit of it before dawn. Lord Venkateswara arrives in a form of an elephant and finishes the sugar cane within moments, and disappears. In the morning, the king was surprised to see all the sugar cane eaten. From that day he becomes famous in the name of Hathiram Bhavaji and the entire authority of the temple is given to him. Finally, the movie ends with Hathiram Bhavaji praises the deity with Suprabhatam.
