== Career ==
Soorya Gopi had worked as a Sociology lecturer in various institutions in Kerala.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.mathrubhumi.com/books/features/article-pk-gopi-dr-arya-gopi-dr-soorya-gopi-1.4247029|title='കഥയോ കവിതയോ എഴുതിയാൽ അത് അച്ഛൻ എഴുതിത്തന്നതാണോയെന്നായിരുന്നു അന്നൊക്കെ ചോദ്യം'|last=കാവ്‌|first=സ്വീറ്റി|website=Mathrubhumi|language=en|access-date=2019-12-29|archive-date=29 December 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191229213228/https://www.mathrubhumi.com/books/features/article-pk-gopi-dr-arya-gopi-dr-soorya-gopi-1.4247029|url-status=dead}}</ref> WWK reviews her story as :''The story “Chirakulla Changalakal” (“Chains with Wings”) is included here. The content of this story are the thoughts in loneliness of a girl who was sold. The author presents very beautifully in simple and effortless style, how a girl who was sold by her own parents as a housemaid sits in a sort of solitary confinement and views the outerworld with a wounded heart writing in intense pain and sorrow. The story ends where the girl escapes from the man who bought her and disappears in the crowded city. The symbols and metaphors that flash through the story and noteworthy. At the very outset of the story, there is an indication of a dead, rotten and stinking donkey and this is followed by the story of a few lives imprisoned in an inevitable tragedy.''<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://womenwritersofkerala.com/author.php?author_id=736&lang=en|title=Women Writers of Kerala, Women Authors of Kerala, Women Writers of India, All Kerala Writers|website=womenwritersofkerala.com|access-date=2019-12-29}}</ref> Dr. Soorya has been contributing to her area of interests like gender, media and literature for the past two decades, through academic endeavors.<ref>{{Cite web | title=Home {{!}} Ministry of Culture | url=https://indiaculture.gov.in/sites/default/files/press_release/Press_Releaseon_12-01-2023-1_13012023.pdf | access-date=2026-03-29 | website=indiaculture.gov.in}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.manoramaonline.com/literature/literaryworld/arya-gopi-favorite-books-literature.html|title=മനുഷ്യർക്ക് വേണ്ടി പൊരുതുന്ന കഥകളോടിഷ്ടം : സൂര്യ ഗോപി|website=ManoramaOnline}}</ref><ref>{{cite web | title=Sacred Heart College, Thevara | Sociology | url=https://www.shcollege.ac.in/rl_gallery/sociology/ }}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB8jrnGyX50|title=Medium is the message- summary of speech delivered by Dr. Soorya Gopi at sahitya akademi Kolkata|date=23 January 2023|via=YouTube}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |date=2024-09-27 |title=Exclusive |url=https://tv.mathrubhumi.com/en/news/exclusive/soorya-gopi-sudev-nair-on-morning-show-%7C-mathrubhumi-news-1.45508 |access-date=2024-09-27 |website=Mathrubhumi}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |last=honey |title=കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമിയുടെ യുവ സാഹിത്യപുരസ്കാരം സൂര്യാ ഗോപിക്ക് |url=https://www.asianetnews.com/news/soorya-gopi-bangs-kendra-sahithya-acacemy-award |access-date=2024-09-27 |website=Asianet News Network Pvt Ltd |language=ml}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |date=2016-06-17 |title=Sahitya Akademi announces Yuva Puraskar winners |url=https://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/sahitya-akademi-announces-yuva-puraskar-2857751/ |access-date=2024-09-27 |website=The Indian Express |language=en}}</ref>
