Prior to [[First Kashmir War]], the regions of [[Kargil district|Kargil]], [[Leh district|Leh]] and [[Baltistan]] constituted the [[Jammu and Kashmir (princely state)#Administration|Ladakh Wazarat]] in the [[princely state]] of [[Jammu and Kashmir (princely state)|Jammu and Kashmir]] in [[British Raj|British India]].
