His second novel, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Surface&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, also set in Northeast India, is about a disillusioned [[Sikh]] journalist. His first non-fiction book, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The Beautiful And the Damned: A Portrait of the New India&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was published in June 2011 by [[Viking Penguin]]. He has also contributed to &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Boston Globe]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Guardian]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Nation]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[New Statesman]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Harper&amp;#039;s]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[London Review of Books]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Times Literary Supplement]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.
