In his writings, he harshly depicted [[Pune]], where he lived, as a hub of [[Brahmin]] orthodoxy,. He wrote several novels, short stories, and essays, including award-winning novel ''Anandi Gopal'', which is a fictional account of the life of [[Anandi Gopal Joshi]].
