== Biography ==&lt;br /&gt;
Shri grew up in Mumbai, India in a musically inclined family. Shri&amp;#039;s father plays the sitar, and his mother and sister play the Carnatic violin. He trained as a classical [[tabla]] player for about 14 years at Pandit Nikhil Ghosh&amp;#039;s school in Mumbai. Web. 25 July 2012. &amp;lt;http://www.allmusic.com/artist/shri-mn0000028860&amp;gt;.&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; a leading rock band in India, and bass in the [[jazz]] outfit Azure Hades (with which he recorded an album), he moved to London in the 1990s and collaborated as a bass player, with UK based Asian groups such as [[Talvin Singh]], [[Nitin Sawhney]] and DJ Badmarsh (forming [[Badmarsh &amp;amp; Shri]]).&lt;br /&gt;

Shri toured for 5 years with Sawhney, which led in 1997 to Shri&amp;#039;s first solo album, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Drum the Bass&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, produced by Sawhney and released by London-based label Outcaste Records. Later, [[Badmarsh &amp;amp; Shri]] produced two albums for Outcaste Records as a duo, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Dancing Drums]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in 1998 and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Signs (Badmarsh &amp;amp; Shri album)|Signs]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in 2001. Shri released another solo album, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[East Rain]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, in 2005, with Drum the Bass Records.  All of these albums mixed blended Electronica and Drum &amp;#039;n&amp;#039; Bass with traditional Indian [[ragas]].&lt;br /&gt;

Shri has also collaborated musically with theatrical productions -  composing for Akademi&amp;#039;s 2001 &amp;#039;Coming of Age&amp;#039; dance project at London&amp;#039;s South Bank, the Builder&amp;#039;s Association/[[Motiroti]] co-production &amp;#039;Alladeen&amp;#039; in 2003, and Tamasha Theatre Company&amp;#039;s &amp;#039;Strictly Dandia&amp;#039; in 2005.&lt;br /&gt;
