==Ideology==<br />
The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has advocated formation of Khalistan at times. It identifies as a party formulated on ideals of equality and brotherhood, is explicitly anti-caste and is supportive of the causes of peasants and farmers. It is critical of staged encounters on the side of governmental authorities in the 1980-90s period. <br />
