In the [[2010 Bihar legislative assembly election|November 2010 state assembly elections]], Sharfuddin of [[Janata Dal (United)|JD(U)]] won the 22 Sheohar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Pratima Devi of [[Bahujan Samaj Party|BSP]]. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ajit Kumar Jha of [[Rashtriya Janata Dal|RJD]] defeated Ratnakar Thakur of JD(U) in [[Bihar Assembly Election, Oct 2005|October 2005]] and [[Bihar Assembly Election, Feb 2005|February 2005]]. Satyanarayan Prasad of RJD defeated Ajit Kumar Jha representing [[Samata Party|SAP]] in 2000.
