== Biography ==
Shantanu Chowdhury, born on 9 September 1968 in the Indian state of [[West Bengal]], completed his master's degree in chemistry at [[Jadavpur University]], Kolkata before securing a PhD from the [[Indian Institute of Chemical Technology]], Hyderabad in 1998.<ref name="Finding pieces in the genome puzzle">{{cite web | url=http://www.biospectrumindia.com/biospecindia/features/123057/finding-pieces-genome-puzzle-i-dr-shantanu-chowdhury-i | title=Finding pieces in the genome puzzle | publisher=Biospectrum India | date=12 December 2012 | access-date=2 November 2016}}</ref> His post-doctoral studies were at the department of biochemistry of [[University of Nebraska–Lincoln]] and later at [[Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology]]. He returned to India in 2001 and joined Insilico Sciences, Bangalore but his tenure there lasted only one year.
