Shamsur Rahman was born on 6 February 2015 in the village of Mathbati, in what is now [[Paikgachha Upazila]] of Khulna District in Bangladesh.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;sangram&amp;quot; /&amp;gt; He was the eldest son of Sharifatunnesa and Kafiluddin Sarder, a renowned English teacher. He completed his secondary school from Kapilmuni Sahachari Vidya Mandir in 1934, higher secondary from [[Government P.C. In 1949,{{citation needed|date=September 2020}} Shamsur Rahman started his career as a journalist. He became a correspondent of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The Pakistan Observer&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. Later on he began to publish a weekly newspaper named &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The Weekly Tawhid&amp;#039;&amp;#039; &amp;quot;সাপ্তাহিক তাওহীদ&amp;quot;.
