&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Shaheed Lateef&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (11 June 1913 - 16 April 1967) was [[Hindi film]] director, writer, and producer. He was the maker of films like &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Ziddi (1948 film)|Ziddi]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1948) which launched [[Dev Anand]]&amp;#039;s career and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Arzoo (1950 film)|Arzoo]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1950) starring [[Dilip Kumar]] and [[Kamini Kaushal]]. Noted Urdu poet [[Kaifi Azmi]] started his career as a lyricist with his film &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Buzdil]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in 1951.&lt;br /&gt;

Lateef shifted to Bombay (now Mumbai) and started his career with [[Bombay Talkies]], a noted film studio of Hindi film industry, where he wrote dialogues for [[Ashok Kumar]]-starrer, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Naya Sansar (1941 film)|Naya Sansar]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1941), followed by [[Amiya Chakravarty (director)|Amiya Chakravarty]]&amp;#039;s &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Anjaan&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1941) and [[Gyan Mukherjee]]&amp;#039;s &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Jhoola (1941 film)|Jhoola]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1941). This led to his directorial debut with &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Ziddi (1948 film)|Ziddi]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1948), on a story by [[Ismat Chughtai]].
