In July 2010, ''[[The Daily Star (Bangladesh)|The Daily Star]]'' reported that Shariful Islam Ramjan and Shafiqul Islam Shimul, President and General Secretary of Natore District unit of [[Jubo League]], controlled a syndicate that manipulated and controlled the tender process at [[Bangladesh Water Development Board]].<ref name=":2">{{Cite web|date=2010-07-01|title=Graft spoils river saving project|url=https://www.thedailystar.net/news-detail-144885|access-date=2021-05-26|website=The Daily Star|language=en}}</ref> The syndicate was involved in corruption that harmed the dredging of rivers like Narod river in Natore District.<ref name=":2" />
