Chakko was born in [[Thrissur|Trichur]], the second daughter (the fourth of ten children) of police superintendent [[M. A. Chakko|Mazhuvancheriparambath Avaram Chakko]] in [[Kerala]]. Chakko traveled extensively to the [[United States]], to [[Europe]] and to the [[Middle East]].
