==Background==
In 2020, after the Passing of [[2020 Indian agriculture acts|three farm laws]] by [[Parliament of India]] there was a huge [[2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest|protest]] against it. After Government announced to withdraw the three farm law, 22 out 32 Punjab Farmer Unions announced to participate in [[2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election]].

Balbir Singh Rajewal has announced to be Chief Minister face of the new party. [[Samyukt Kisan Morcha]] has distanced itself from the new party and said it is not associated with SSM.
