Major &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Rowland Francis Bowen&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (27 February 1916 &amp;amp;ndash; 4 September 1978) was a [[cricket]] researcher, historian and writer.&lt;br /&gt;

Educated at [[Westminster School|Westminster]], Bowen was emergency commissioned in April 1942 into the [[British Indian Army|Indian Army]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;London Gazette 3 July 1942&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He spent many years in [[Egypt]], [[Sudan]] and [[India]] before returning to England in 1951 and joining the [[Royal Engineers]] as a [[Captain (British Army and Royal Marines)|Captain]], working at the [[War Office]] and ultimately being promoted to the rank of [[Major (United Kingdom)|Major]].&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;obit&amp;quot;/&amp;gt; He later worked for the Joint Intelligence Bureau, part of Britain&amp;#039;s military intelligence establishment.&amp;lt;ref name=RJ/&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
