Romesh Chandra Mitter was born in [[British India]] in 1840 at Rajarhat, Bishnupur, in the then undivided [[24 Parganas]]. His father was Ramchandra Mitter.{{citation needed|date=March 2018}} Ramesh Chandra entered in [[Hare School]] and [[Presidency College Calcutta]].
