In the [[2015 Bihar legislative assembly election|November 2010 state assembly elections]], the newly created 23 Riga assembly seat Motilal Prasad of [[Bharatiya Janata Party|BJP]] defeated Amit Kumar of [[Indian National Congress|Congress]] whose father was a member of RSS and contested unsuccessfully as independent candidate from Bathnaha Vidhan Sabha since 1980 to 2005.
