She was born in the village [[Birra, Chhattisgarh|Birra]], [[Janjgir-Champa]] district, Chhattisgarh the third child of Diwan Durgeshwar Singh, Zamindar of Birra and Rajkumari Bhanu Kumari Devi from royal house of [[Ambagarh Chauki]].
