This dance is accompanied by [[dhol]]s (drums) and ''Kanshis'' (cymbals).<ref name="gupta"/> This dance was traditionally performed by [[Bagdi (caste)|Bagdi]] community, who worked as the bodyguards of the landlords in medieval [[Bengal]].<ref name="ih"/>
