Krishnan was born in a small village named Rappal, in [[Thrissur district]], then in the [[Kingdom of Cochin]] and now in the South Indian state of [[Kerala]] on 22 September 1911.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Current_Science_obit&amp;quot;&amp;gt;{{cite web |url=http://www.currentscience.ac.in/Downloads/article_id_077_11_1552_1553_0.pdf |title=R.
