The policy envisages to integrate all the fishermen with agricultural farmers and provide all the facilities available through various farmer welfare schemes to the fishermen. In the Union Budget for 2019–20, the Finance Minister announced {{INRConvert|804.75|c|lk=on|year=2020}} to incentivize and promote processing in the fisheries sector for the Financial year 2019–20 through the newly formed Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
