In the [[2010 Bihar legislative assembly election|November 2010 state assembly elections]], [[Awadhesh Prasad Kushwaha]] of [[Janata Dal (United)|JD(U)]] won the 17 Pipra, Purvi Champaran assembly seat defeating Subodh Yadav of [[Rashtriya Janata Dal|RJD]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite web|url = http://eciresults.nic.in/Statewises0418.htm|title=Bihar Assembly Elections Nov 2010 Results|publisher =Election Commission of India |access-date = 2011-01-12 }}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; Later he was sworn in as cabinet minister in [[Nitish Kumar]] cabinet. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Krishnanandan Paswan of [[Bharatiya Janata Party|BJP]] defeated Surendra Kumar Chandra of [[Rashtriya Janata Dal|RJD]] in [[Bihar Assembly Election, Oct 2005|October 2005]] and [[Bihar Assembly Election, Feb 2005|February 2005]].
